Setting Your Primary Venue

What this feature does

Setting a primary venue designates which location serves as your main or default venue. When you have multiple locations under your account, your primary venue is the one that appears first when you log into the dashboard. It also determines the default terminology used throughout your dashboard—whether you see "bookings" or "orders," "menus" or "room types," based on what type of business your primary venue is.

Who it is for

This feature is essential for business owners managing multiple locations who want to control which venue takes center stage in their dashboard experience. It's particularly useful if you have one flagship location that receives most of your attention, or if you've recently opened a new venue that you want to monitor more closely.

When to use it

You should set or change your primary venue when:

  • You're managing multiple locations and want to focus on a specific one

  • You've opened a new flagship location that should be your main focus

  • You want the dashboard language to match your most important business type (for example, setting a hotel as primary if you also run a restaurant)

  • You're shifting business priorities from one location to another

  • You want to see a different venue's data first when you open the dashboard

Key concepts

Primary Venue: Your primary venue is flagged in the system as your main location. This designation doesn't give it special powers or restrict other venues—it simply tells the dashboard, "This is the venue I want to see first."

Default Dashboard View: When you log in, the dashboard homepage shows metrics and data from your primary venue by default. You can still switch to view other venues, but your primary venue is the starting point.

Terminology Adaptation: The dashboard language adapts based on your primary venue's business type. If your primary venue is a hotel, you'll see terms like "property," "bookings," and "room types." If it's a restaurant, you'll see "restaurant," "orders," and "menus." This ensures the interface speaks your business language.

Single Primary Rule: You can only have one primary venue at a time. When you set a new venue as primary, the previous primary venue automatically becomes a regular venue.

Switching is Reversible: Changing your primary venue is not permanent. You can switch your primary designation to a different venue whenever your priorities change.

Common questions

chevron-rightHow do I know which venue is currently set as primary?hashtag

Your primary venue typically appears at the top of your venue list and may have a special indicator like a star icon or badge showing it as the main location. The dashboard homepage will also display data from this venue by default.

chevron-rightIf I change my primary venue, will I lose data from my old primary venue?hashtag

Absolutely not. Changing your primary venue only affects which location appears first in the dashboard. All data, orders, menus, and settings for your previous primary venue remain completely intact and accessible.

chevron-rightCan I have different primary venues for different staff members?hashtag

No. The primary venue setting is account-wide, meaning it applies to everyone who logs into your business account. All users will see the same primary venue as the default when they access the dashboard.

chevron-rightDoes setting a venue as primary affect how customers see my business?hashtag

No. The primary venue setting is purely for your internal dashboard experience. Customers don't see or interact with this designation—they only see the specific venue they're ordering from.

chevron-rightWhat if all my venues are equally important? Do I still need a primary venue?hashtag

Yes, the system requires one venue to be marked as primary, even if all your locations are equally important. Simply choose one to serve as the default starting point in your dashboard. Remember, you can easily switch between venues once you're logged in, so the primary designation doesn't limit your access to other locations.
