Dashboard Overview

What this feature does

Your dashboard is your business command center. When you log into Servinn, this is the first screen you see. It gives you a complete snapshot of how your business is performing right now, showing you the most important numbers at a glance—like how much money you've made, how many orders you've received, and where your payments are coming from. Think of it as your business health check, updated in real-time throughout the day.

Who it is for

The dashboard is designed for everyone who manages or operates your business:

  • Business owners who want to monitor overall performance and revenue

  • Managers who need to track daily operations and team productivity

  • Staff members who want to see how many customers they've personally served

The information displayed adapts based on your role. Owners and managers see financial details and full business metrics, while staff members see their personal performance statistics.

When to use it

You'll find yourself returning to the dashboard throughout your business day:

  • First thing in the morning to see overnight activity and prepare for the day ahead

  • During busy periods to monitor incoming orders in real-time

  • Before making decisions about staffing, inventory, or promotions

  • At day's end to review overall performance and compare to your goals

  • When you want a quick check-in without diving into detailed reports

The dashboard automatically refreshes when new orders come in, so you're always looking at current information.

Key concepts

Total Revenue: This is the actual money your business has received from successful payments. It includes everything customers have paid, including any taxes and fees. This number tells you how much money has actually landed in your account.

Profit: This shows your earnings before taxes are deducted. If you have taxes enabled for your venue, you'll see this separated from the tax amounts to give you a clearer picture of your actual profit.

Total Orders: This counts every order that has come through your system, whether they're still being prepared, ready for pickup, or already completed. It gives you a sense of how busy you've been.

Order Types: These show how customers are interacting with your business. For restaurants, you'll see categories like dine-in, takeout, and delivery. For hotels, you'll see bookings and room service. For retail stores, you'll see in-store and pickup orders. This helps you understand which service types are most popular.

Recent Orders Section: This live feed shows your most recent orders that are still pending or being prepared. You'll see each customer's name, order number, and total amount. When a new order arrives, it appears here instantly so you can respond quickly.

Payments Chart: This circular chart breaks down where your money is coming from—whether customers are paying with cash, card, or mobile money. The total in the center shows your overall payment volume, while the colored segments show the breakdown by payment method.

Live Indicator: When you see a red dot with the word "Live" next to your orders, it means your dashboard is actively connected and will update automatically when new orders arrive. You don't need to refresh your browser.

Role-Based Views: What you see on your dashboard depends on your role. Staff members see their personal serving statistics, while owners and managers see comprehensive financial metrics. This ensures everyone gets the information most relevant to their responsibilities.

Common questions

chevron-rightQ: Why do my revenue and profit numbers look different?hashtag

They show different things! Revenue is the total amount customers paid, including all taxes and fees. Profit is what you actually keep before taxes. If you've enabled tax collection for your venue, you'll see both numbers. The difference between them represents the taxes you'll remit to the government. This separation helps you understand your true earnings versus total money collected.

chevron-rightQ: How often does my dashboard update with new information?hashtag

Your dashboard updates in real-time whenever a new order comes in—you'll see the live indicator when this feature is active. However, if you want to refresh all the metrics manually (like revenue and payment totals), you can reload your browser page. The system is designed to keep you informed without constantly refreshing on its own, which could be distracting during busy periods.

chevron-rightQ: I manage multiple locations. Can I see all of them at once on the dashboard?hashtag

Currently, the dashboard shows metrics for one venue at a time. You can easily switch between your locations using the venue dropdown menu in the top right corner (look for your profile picture and click it). When you select a different venue, all the numbers and charts update to show that location's performance. This focused view helps you analyze each location individually.

chevron-rightQ: What does "Total Served" mean for staff members?hashtag

If you're logged in as a staff member, you'll see "Total Served" instead of revenue metrics. This number shows how many orders you've personally handled or served to customers. It's a way to track your individual contribution and activity. Owners and managers don't see this—they see the overall business revenue instead.

chevron-rightQ: The Payments chart is empty. What does that mean?hashtag

An empty Payments chart means you haven't received any successful payments yet at this venue. This is completely normal if you're just getting started, if all your orders are still pending payment, or if you're viewing a brand new venue. Once customers complete payments, you'll see colorful segments appear showing your payment method breakdown.

chevron-rightQ: Can I download or export my dashboard data?hashtag

While the dashboard itself is designed for quick at-a-glance viewing, you can access detailed downloadable reports by clicking the "Today's Report" link at the bottom of your main metrics card. This takes you to the Reports section where you can generate and download comprehensive reports as PDF files for any date range you need.
